Wow.

It's been a little while since I've posted in here.  I'm not even sure why I haven't posted for so long.

My best wishes go out to Rach.  I'm so sorry about Aaron's father, and I'm going to miss you.  *hugs*

I must have lost it.

I'm insane.  I'm quite literally bonkers.

Why on earth would I submit a pairing to fanfic100, much less in a fandom I've never written for before?  Well, besides the obvious reason of that I want to keep writing to keep my creative juices flowing, but...it's a femmeslash pairing.  So few people write those!

Someone else might have it.  I may not have noticed.  They could turn me down.

...

Wow, it's been a while.

Yeah.  I have an awful head cold right now that's driving me up the wall, so I'm trying to take it easy.  That means I've cut back on my online activities for a few days so I can try and make myself stay in bed.

Speaking of which...I'm going to lay down.

New friend!

Hurrah!  I have a new friend on here, and one that seems to have a liking for Serenity and Buffy!  Let's give a big hand for hawkgirl2009 !

Today, I saw Underworld: Evolution.  It was fantastic in a crappy way, which are my favorite types of movies.  I honestly wish I knew why vampires and werewolves appeal to me so much, especially considering most media in which they are found tends to be of what most would consider to be a lesser quality, but I'm not going to contest it.  I have such a good time, why should I care?

The semester starts today, but my first class is tomorrow, which means I might not be on here as much....or not.  I'm only taking two classes this semester, and while they might work-intensive classes, I only go to said classes three times a week on three days (Tuesday through Thursday).  It'll probably hardly affect my online time.

Life of chains.

I have a tendency to name my posts after the songs I'm listening to.  I think a lot of angsty-type people do it, but I just do it because I'm not anymore original than that.

So my birthday rocked, and I have a rocking CD player, but the festivities aren't over yet.  Trina's taking me to see Underworld: Evolution in about twelve hours as a birthday present, and I'm thrilled.  Nothing like cheesy vampire/werewolf movies to cheer me up.  I'll probably post about it on here after I see it.

The big thing I did yesterday was take pictures with Danielle.  That was a lot of fun because I got to compare different looks and different ways of taking pictures and see how they change how I look.  It's funny how changing where my hair is placed and taking off my glasses can make me appear so different.  Later today, I'm going to probably post more about that on GJ/LJ, so watch out for that.

It's the twentieth!
Which means I am now twenty years old.  Party time!

Darn.

Sleep would be so nice right now.  I crave sleep.  I love sleep.  I treat sleep nicely.  Why do you behave so, elusive sleep?

To kill time, I've been inputting info into WMP regarding my mix CDs.  Why?  So I can put everything here and tag it and everything.  I'm addicted to this site, no question there.  I wish more people were on it so I could add them as friends, but it's tough to do without high-speed stuff.

So, basically, this was another pointless post in a string of pointless posts.  I like to think of this blog as deleted scenes from my other ones, though, so feel lucky you get all the useless stuff that I omit everywhere else!

I need to do my prerequisite 'I'm getting old' remark.  So here it is.

TOMORROW I'M NOT GOING TO BE AN ANGSTY TEEN ANYMORE OMG.

How am I going to be spending my last day as a teenager?  The same way I spent a lot of my days as a teenager: surfing online, eating, and sleeping.  Yeah.  I'm original.

You can touch the sunrise.

You know, I don't like tags and I'm not going to post them anymore.  I feel weird for not liking them, but I just don't see the point.

I started this post a few hours ago to talk about something, and now I honestly don't know what it was.  I probably wouldn't have even tried to finish it, but Mindsay saves this stuff automatically, so I had the first couple sentences waiting here for me.  Aren't I lucky?

Dream a little dream for me.
Tags: dream
I crashed somewhere between eight and nine last evening, even though I didn't mean to.  I was actually listening to Queer as Folk while I rested my eyes because I've been having headaches almost every day for the last couple of weeks, and I dozed off.  While I slept, I had an interesting dream.

I think I dreamt I was in a college class.  For some reason, I decided to take singing and dancing (which I almost definitely wouldn't do before I got my degree because those are GPA-ruining classes right there), and Ms. Mielke was teaching them.  That's a double whammy of avoidance for me right there.  However, considering who was helping her teach the class, I think I could get over it.  Why?  Because it was Tony Head (aka Anthony Stewart Head, who played Giles on Buffy and is a musical, British actor).  And I was extremely attracted to him in the dream.  Not like I am in real life.  Ahem.

So I geeked out in the dream.  Big time.  I was sort of annoyed in the dream because Ms. Mielke was having us all sing by sight-reading, and I can read notes, but I can't sing them, and it was supposed to be a beginner's class.  Then, Tony Head took us over, we sang and danced a little bit, and I know I did it wrong, so I asked him if I did it wrong, and he smiled and said yes, and I was a puddle on the floor.

The dream ended weirdly, with Tony Head going to his ship across the street (which is odd considering this dream took place in this town) and my dad picking me up and driving me home in a really scary way in the pouring rain.  That's become a real recurring theme; my dad driving scary and me waking up or switching themes.

Mmm, Tony Head.

Woo.
Boy, it's nice that I finally caught up on all the post reading/commenting/replying that I keep putting off. I like doing it, so why do I avoid keeping up? No idea.

I'd like to thank two cans of regular Coke for keeping me pepped up enough to get everything done. Yay occasional caffeine/sugar.

Not much to say here that I didn't already say on GJ/LJ. I could mention how my impending birthday makes me feel very very old, but I am looking forward to it. It's also less than two months to Danielle's birthday, so she's finally going to be a legal adult and able to do a lot more.

She was telling me the other day that it's going to be an end of an era for the Upstairs Cafeteria gang, and she's right. She's the last of us to be legal. That's a landmark right there. It also means that we're getting further and further away from our high school years (and I'm still not sure if it's a good thing or a bad thing). I know I do feel nostalgic and, as I said, old. Twenty is awfully young to feel old. Sigh.

Okay, going to watch Queer as Folk now.

Edit:  I just noticed the new recent visitors to the profile feature.  It activates when two people have visited your profile (which I don't have at the point of this edit).  It sort of saddens me; I liked browsing the people who visited my blog without showing up in their 'recent visitors' area on their blog.  I suppose I shouldn't be sad that my anonymous voyeurism is over.  I like knowing about getting visitors, so why wouldn't other people?

Mmm, Star Wars.
Tags: anime general
In about the last twenty four hours, I have watched from The Phantom Menace to A New Hope (which I'm probably about a half hour from finishing). I can't believe that George Lucas changed The Phantom Menace so quickly. He made the podracing scene LONGER than the one in the theatrical version, as if it wasn't long enough, and he added more useless crap. That's why I love directors who say the theatrical cut was the best version of the movie. They aren't idiotic enough to strive for perfection.

Anyway, more on Star Wars later. After I get through the rest of the original trilogy when I wake up (yay for The Empire Strikes Back! It's the best out of the six, no question), I'll probably post on how I feel the entire thing holds up in one nearly consistent run-through.

What's really driving me crazy right now is my internet connection. Sure, I like having wireless internet in my room, but it's so fickle that I might as well not have it at all. I get a lot of 'You are connected to the access port, but the internet cannot be found', and, sometimes when I get that message, the internet's working, or surfing doesn't work but my IMs do. What the hell? It makes no sense.

Probably the coolest thing that happened today was watching Blood: The Last Vampire.  Sadly, this is what IMDB says about it:

This was originally supposed to be a three episode OAV series, but due to a lack of time and money, only the middle segment was animated and given theatrical distribution.

Lame! As a result, it lacked backstory and follow-through big time.

Why was it so cool? A few reasons. The animation was amazing. They melded CG and cells extremely well. The main character (a kickass chick named Saya) was one of those characters that just made me squee. Something that was really confusing at first was the fact that they actually used both English and Japanese audio in the anime, so we thought it was a dub at first, but it worked really well.

Finally, my favorite part? It took place on the Air Force base that I lived on when I was younger. I can't tell you how INSANELY cool that was. The main reason I started reading manga/watching anime in the first place was to regain a connection I've felt for Japan since I've lived there, and the fact that one takes place there?! Yeah. I died and went to geek heaven. I'm really really going to have to buy it one day.

Happy Friday the 13th to you all. I'm going to get back to the movie, and I'll probably post again once I'm done.

Reach out and touch faith.
For the first time since I got high-speed internet in my room, I'm listening to my own music. Internet radio is indeed a beautiful thing.

Urm, not much to say. I never have much to say during my especially reculsive periods, and I'm in one right now. I've pretty much been in my room since Saturday night, when I got the internet in here. Saturday was a fun day because I got to see Brokeback Mountain and I had ham at Amanda's house. (Mmm, ham.) But I've already talked about that, haven't I?

I think I need to reread my blog. I can't even remember what I've been posting about anymore.

Edit: Nope!  I didn't talk about seeing BBM.  But I suppose I don't really need to, consider my two buds on here are also on GJ  (and Crys is on LJ, too).  Shout out to Rach and Crys, yo.

Okay, time for sleep.

New default pic.
Hurrah for high-speed internet. I get everything done in half the time and get to spend even more hours doing useless junk. How I love the technological age.

In light of this new availability, I changed my default pic to one I fiddled with in PSP 8. No matter how much I resized the image, that was the most I could get for the picture. Oh well, it has its own aesthetic quality to it, I think. If nothing else, it's just kind of cool to look at.

I should really sleep. I think Danielle's already gotten up for the day (break just ended for her). Wait. I'm going back to school in a couple weeks. I think I'm going to celebrate the freedom to sleep whenever the hell I want. Yay!

Edit: Okay, I fiddled with the default pic a little more, and I'm a little happier with the end result now.  I couldn't quite get the look I wanted, but it's okay.  I'm just too nitpicky for my own good, methinks.

Profile.
I changed my personal profile because it occurred to me just how empty it was. I enjoy filling those out way too much, I think. I usually try to make all my profiles kind of spiffy.

Yesterday (or was it the day before?) was a sad day because they took down the official Serenity boards. Lame. I just hope I get my bandanna, gorram it. I worked my butt off to get those points.

By the by, Rach, did you know they have a soundtrack for the actual television series?  It's shiny (although I think the movie score is better).  Of course, any score with a track named "Naked Mal" wins in my book.

Sleep...must have sleep...

Will do proper post/read other posts/answer replies later; I'm just trying to post once a day all month.  I don't know why I am, but I am.  I'm just weird like that.

And the rain rain rain came down down down.
Boy, those are fun tags, aren't they?

Yeah.  So it's flooding in town and there have been mudslides.  What fun.  I'm obviously fine, but...yeah, it's getting annoying.

I posted more about in GJ and LJ, if you care.

I'm fond of all of them.
Tags: layout
Okay, I know I edited my last post quite a bit to tell about my layout changes.  I just thought I'd do a more detailed description of everything I did because I don't much feel like screencapping what I have and I'll probably change the layout eventually.  So, for those curious and may not know much about editing the site or graphics programs, here's step by step what I did.  If you have any questions regarding anything I didn't detail here, let me know.

I started by finding an image and editing it.  In this case, I'm on a huge Sin City kick (I got the special edition DVD for Christmas), so I found this picture of Gail and shrunk it.  I'm using a trial of PSP Studio right now (I have PSP 8 on the computer in my room, which has a lot more features, but I didn't feel like going back and forth).  That allowed me to crop the picture, get the words tilted just the way I wanted, and get the right color of red for the letters.  (Alas, I don't have the Sin City font, it would probably cost money to get, and I was too lazy to get a comic book font.)

After I was done with all that, I uploaded it to Photobucket, went to the 'Customize Design' portion of the site, and stuck the URL in the 'Choose your own header picture.' area under the 'Blog Options' heading.  On here, the image has to be more than 580 pixels wide, and I didn't want to go too much wider than that because pictures that are too big take forever to upload/load on dial-up and they mess with the layout if your resolution is smaller.  (I messed up at first and made the header exactly 580 pixels, but apparently that doesn't work, so I upped it to 600 pixels.  I like round numbers.)

When the header was sorted out, I started messing with colors.  It took me a while to figure out what I could change and what I couldn't, and I had to work around that.  (Again, anyone know if you can edit CSS?  I would much appreciate it if you knew.)  Here's the exact colors I used, and this goes under the 'Colors and background' area.

Page background/links: #000000 (black)
Font color/border color: #FFFFFF (white)
Blog background/entry background/plugin background: #6b6b6b (dark grey)

Once the colors were settled, I found the 'modify plugins' area and decided to change some things there.  I enabled bookmarks, added some, and reordered and renamed the plugins.  (I also changed the 'reply' text, which can be done in the 'blog options' area.)  Since I have a Sin City banner, I decided to go with a 'sin' theme for my text.  'My warrior woman', 'I've got a collection', and 'The right back alley' are all parts of Sin City quotes.  'Give me my sin again' is from Romeo and Juliet, and 'Do you know what your sin is?' is a quote from Serenity (best movie ever!).

That's it.  It's pretty simple, really.  In fact, it's so simple that I'm sort of wondering why I wrote it all out like this.  I think it's because I've gotten layout questions on other journal/blog sites before, so detailing my work like this can maybe help me answer them in the future.  If nothing else, it's killing a little time while I try to get tired enough to sleep.
